15-05-2009: Mayors Golf Tourney 2009 Sponsorship: CANON

From Times.co.sz : Canon Sponsorship: 2009 Mayors Cup Golf Tourney

E45 000 sponsorship

for Mayor’s Golf Cup

By MENZI DLAMINI on May 15,2009

image

MBABANE- The Mbabane Mayor’s Cup Golf challenge slated for this Sunday has received a total sponsorship of E45 000.

Canon is the main sponsor as they have sponsored the tournament to the value of E30 000, while the corporate sector of the Mbabane City contributed E15 000.
The tournament to take place at the Mbabane Club was officially launched yesterday by Mbabane Mayor Zephaniah Nkambule.

He requested residents of Mbabane to attend the tourn-ament, adding that it was a forum where issues affecting the city at both corporate sector and individual level would be discussed.
Canon’s Managing Director Cassim Suleman said despite the credit crunch, his company saw it worthwhile to sponsor the tournament for the City of Mbabane.
He explained that this was the company’s second sponsorship for the tournament, stating that the first one was in 2007.
Mbabane Club captain Mervyn Lubbe said the club was ready to host the tournament.
A total of 14 teams have registered for the Mayor’s Cup Golf Challenge billed for the Mbabane Club on Sunday.
The tourney has attracted a large number of corporates who will participate in a Four-ball setup (i.e. a four member team per corporate). The game will be played on four-ball two score fashion.
“The winning team shall receive the floating Mayor’s Trophy plus four individual prizes. The next four follow-up teams will also have individual prizes. There shall be refreshments for all after the presentation. The Mayor will do the presentation of prizes,” he said.
Dlamini said each team should be composed of four players, stressing that each team will pay E1 000.

Below is a draw for Sunday’s tournament:

1. Mbabane Mayor’s Team
2. Mbabane Motors
3. Wesbank Swaziland
4. African Alliance
5. Central Bank of Swaziland
6. Canon Swaziland
7. First National Bank
8. MTN Swaziland
9. Real Image First
10. Real Image Second
11. JSMM
12. Kapson Investments
13. Standard Bank Swaziland
14. Swazi Observer

Mbabane City PRO Bongani Dlamini requested the teams to contact him at 6284845 or alternatively Fred Maphandzeni (6022536).
“During the games and after, the business people/corporates will have the chance to talk amongst themselves and Mayors on issues of mutual interest and the general governance of the City. This will be the best opportunity for the parties to share ideas.

The first tournament in 2005 was sponsored by the Standard Bank Swaziland. In 2006, the main sponsor was MTN Swaziland and support sponsor was NedBank Swaziland whilst in 2007, MTN remained the major sponsor with Canon Swaziland as a co-sponsor. MTN Swaziland also promised to sponsor last year’s event which could not because of the political turmoil that engulfed the Council then. Unfortunately, this year, MTN Swaziland could not extend the same olive leaf,” he said.

Sunset Pics at Malolotja Nature Reserve , Swaziland

Info on Malolotja Nature Reserve:
Malolotja Nature Reserve is situated in the heart of Swaziland's highlands and is the last unspoilt mountain wilderness left in Swaziland. In addition to astounding hill top views you may see numerous animals from ten or more species, plus a unique highveld birdlife.

Several rivers feed this reserve and tend to follow the lines of weakness in the hard quartzite ridges and have cut gorges and deep pools out of the rock and created rapids and waterfalls.

The Malolotja Falls -the highest in Swaziland - cascade over 292 feet (90metres) into thick Afro-montane forest.

The well watered lowlands offer a variety of habitats with swamps and lush plains thick with tall grasses, orchids and lilies, while ancient cycads grow in shaded spots. There is a profusion of wild flowers most of the year. The upper reaches of the river have crystal clear streams and pools good for swimming.

This park is not for the self drive amateur as apart from a meagre 15 miles (25km) of driveable road, the rest are 4x4 trails more suited to a mountain bike. However perseverance allows you to access seldom visited parts such as the top of Ngwenya Mountain.

ANIMALS & BIRDS

Zebra, wildebeest, reedbuck, blesbok, red hartebeest and oribi graze the grasslands while other animals including leopards, serval, aardwolf, jackal and bushpig tend to keep out of sight.

Birdlife is prolific with colourful attractive species like louries, sunbirds and sugarbirds, blue cranes and swallows as well as a breeding colony of bald ibis, who nest on the cliffs near Malolotja Falls.

Hlane Royal National Game Park, Swaziland: Trip report

Hlane (meaning ‘wilderness’) is the Kingdom of Swaziland’s largest protected area. It is an immense flat lowland thick with 1,000-year-old hardwood trees like knobthorn, leadwood and tambuti with some grasslands and shallow pans.

Hlane has survived the ravages of poaching and competing land uses to emerge as one of Swaziland's best parks and you can self-drive or take guided walks with rangers.

The park has accommodation with an authentic bush feel in self catering thatched huts without electricity. There is also a more modern self-catering camp with family cottages.

This is a malaria FREE area...!!!!

Day Game Drives are Available and are a must, as this is the only way 2 spot the big cats, ie Lions, Leopards and cheetahs...As these are in a protected part of the park and only open 2 Park Vehicles...Game drives are E150-00 PP (2008 Pricing..)

These are some of the Pics taken by me during my trip in 2006..Was there only for about 3 hours, And saw Lions, Rhinos, Bucks, Ostriches, Zebras and a Lone Elephant.. But there are many more Animals 2 see.

Look out Point overlooking the local Dam.

Tell the full story.

15.1 MP CMOS sensor
Ideal for those who want to create large, poster-size prints – or crop images to perfection without losing any of the detail necessary for printing – Canon’s 15.1MP CMOS sensor is outstanding in low light, and produces images with incredibly low noise.

Full HD movie recording
The EOS 500D combines exceptional still shooting with the ability to shoot Full HD (1080p) video. For occasions when larger amounts of footage need to be stored on a memory card, users can also choose to shoot at 720p or VGA resolution. An HDMI connection allows High Definition playback of footage and images on any HDTV.

High ISO for low light
When light levels fall, the EOS 500D offers an ISO range of up to 3200 – expandable to 12800 for those environments where using flash is undesirable.

3.4fps with up to 170 JPEG burst
The EOS 500D features shooting speeds of up to 3.4fps in continuous bursts of up to 170 large JPEG images (9 RAW).

3.0” Clear View LCD with Live View mode
Detailed checks on images and video are possible with a 3.0” ClearView LCD screen, which features an ultra-high 920,000 dots for increased clarity. Switch to Live View mode and use the real-time visual feed to shoot from awkward angles.

9-point AF system
A high-precision AF system employs 9 AF points AF Points are located throughout the frame to better accommodate off-centre subjects. For accurate focusing with fast aperture lenses, the central AF point features a high sensitivity cross-type sensor, suitable for lenses with an aperture of f/2.8 or faster.

DIGIC 4
Canon’s DIGIC 4 processor works with the CMOS sensor to deliver 14-bit image processing, for smooth gradations and natural looking colours. DIGIC 4 also powers advanced Noise Reduction when shooting at higher ISO speeds, plus split-second startup times and near-instant image review after shooting.

EOS Integrated Cleaning System
Canon’s built-in dust prevention system offers three ways of guarding images against the effects of dust: reduction of internal dust generation; an in-camera sensor cleaning mechanism; and the ability to map stubborn dust sports for removal with the included Digital Photo Professional software.

Full EF/EF-S and EX Speedlite compatibility
The EOS 500D is compatible with Canon’s full range of EF and EF-S lenses and EX-series Speedlites. This allows the creation of a shooting system as unique as the photographer using it.
